These coins commemorate Seventy-five years since Australians became part of the first group of United Nations military observers anywhere in the world, and in the Netherlands East Indies (Indonesia) became the first Peacekeepers to go into the field. Since that time, Australian Peacekeepers have served in locations ranging from the Middle East to Africa, Iraq, Afghanistan, Cyprus, East Timor, Southeast Asia, Bougainville, the Solomon Islands and many more. This is a highly collectable item and is supplied complete as an unopened Original RAM Roll (with Hologram Logo). In 1947, four Australian military observers arrived in the'Netherlands East Indies' (now Indonesia) as members of a United Nations (UN) group supervising the ceasefire between nationalist and Netherlands colonial forces. Since then, tens of thousands of members of the Australian military, police and civilians have participated in some 70 peacekeeping missions and peace operations in more than 60 different countries.
